Compassionate therapy that heals from the inside out.

Life doesn’t look or feel the way you wish it did.

Do you struggle with feeling “not good enough” or feeling unworthy? Have you noticed that anxious thoughts and self-doubt are getting in the way of being fully present in your life? It is time to challenge internalized messaging which say that you are small, not living up to expectations, or that it is selfish to set boundaries. It is time to connect with your resilience and step into a more powerful self.

  • It’s midnight, but instead of sleeping, your mind is racing about all the things that need to be done or that thing you said last week. You might have a sense of dread sitting on your chest, making it hard to breathe. This is anxiety. The good news is that you can learn mindful relaxation techniques and new ways of thinking that can free you from this painful loop.

If you are willing to do some homework and change some behaviors, these anxiety symptoms can be resolved.

  • Do you generally put in more work than is necessary, shrug off compliments or find yourself procrastinating? If you have excessively high standards and are self-critical, this might be perfectionism. Perfectionism is a painful and lonely place because it is driven by a deep fear of rejection and a belief that love is conditional based on your performance.

By learning mindfulness techniques and practicing behavioral homewok that may include purposefully making a mistake (I know…breathe!) you can learn to ease up on yourself and others and experience more peace.

“Perfect” is a myth that you can release.

  • Grief is a fact of human life that will impact each of us at some point. Feeling distressed, guilty and lost is normal when there is a major loss in your life. Combined with the internal and external pressures to “get over it” and “move on,” it can be a very dark and lonely experience.

In therapy, I will hold the space for you to talk through your feelings and memories, even if that means telling the same story multiple times. We will talk through and even challenge some of the thoughts and feelings that you are having, whether it is guilt, confusion, sadness, relief or regret. By not avoiding the loss, you can slowly come to terms with your “new normal.”

I’m kRISTIN

I believe you deserve relief from pain and hope for healing.

If you have noticed that limiting beliefs are blocking your path, but do not know how to overcome them yourself, you are in the right place. I create a safe, nonjudgmental and authentic space in which you can explore who you are and what you want to be. I have an eclectic approach, using solid, evidence-based clinical interventions with a dash of spirituality to empower clients to manifest the best versions of themselves. I will take the time to get to know you, will believe you, and will support you in meeting your goals.

How I can help

I specialize in therapy for lasting change.

  • Drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectic behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness and other treatment modalities, I will help you set and meet your goals. The first step to addressing anxiety is to learn to cultivate a state of mindful present-moment awareness. In this way, we connect with our lives instead of being preoccupied with the past or future.

  • Is perfectionism a bad thing? Well, when it causes you to ignore your own needs and creates overthinking, comparisons, and misery, then yes. Together we can explore healthy ways to goal-set, without falling into the trap of perfectionistic thinking. We can challege the idea that we have to live up to others’ expectations and learn to love the authentic you.

  • As a Hospice volunteer and former nursing home worker, as well as having experienced many losses of my own, I have always had an interest in the natural grief process. Unfortunately, the modern world tends to either pathologize or ignore what should be a “normal” process. I will hold the space for you to do the griefwork for your loved one. I not rush you as you digest this huge life change.
